How my journey began…
Born in a small country named, Kyrgyzstan, my parents and I immigrated to the United States in the year 1990. My father worked crazy hours to support 6 kids and mom worked miracles to keep us healthy and growing. One thing I remember, is we used to always make our own gardens, mega gardens. We spent a lot of time outside helping with these gardens, playing some kind of backyard sport or exploring the woods. We always stayed active. I started playing sports in middle school, and wanted to try it all. Soccer, basketball, track and field were my favorite. I was fascinated with the human body and how we can shape and mold our physical being to improve performance in many aspects.
Finishing high school, I pursued architecture and construction management because I was good at it and knew this would pay the bills one day, however, there was something I was more passionate about. At that time I had been getting more and more into body building and learning different types of exercises to build muscle. I became good friends with someone I met who shared the same passion and he became my lifting buddy. We would encourage and push each other past our limits, in and outside of the gym, to get in the best shape possible. We each had our idols and an image of what we wanted to achieve. Remembering back, I would look through fitness magazines to read articles and studies to learn as much as I could. I would see these people that were in phenomenal shape, it would fuel my fire to work harder and achieve the same. I had the ultimate goal of really wanting to get shredded and do a fitness photo shoot.
I finally started switching my focus towards what I felt my heart was leading me to do. I signed up for some nutrition classes at my college to start diving deeper into my passion. Around that time my lifting buddy and I were throwing the idea around of doing a bodybuilding competition. One night, we just got fired up and found the exact shows we wanted to compete in and win. Having a set goal and date to work towards, I got to work harder than ever. I was about 20 years of age, energy at an all time high, motivated like crazy, hitting the gym twice a day. I started to catch the attention of people at my local gym. Some were older and had a lot of experience, who would then share their knowledge. Others were people that would ask for help or wanted me to coach them. Not being certified or having a degree, I knew could not, so I would share tips and inspire them to do better.
Show day. I am nervous. Butterflies in my stomach, but also confident that I worked harder than the other 44 guys competing in my class. I remember walking out on that stage and everything just slowed down and went silent for a moment. Filled with emotion, I cracked a big smile and everything was history. Taking 1st place in my class and over all Men’s Physique was nothing short of exhilarating. Needless to say, I was approached by some of the judges asking if I was going to compete again and what shows I had in mind. After being approached so often, I finally decided to get the credentials so I could take more action on starting to help some of these people reaching out. I knew at this point, I had a shot in the fitness industry and could totally make a living doing something I absolutely LOVE!
I continued on pursuing Health and Fitness for the years to come. Having many years of experience working and managing in big box gyms, i finally decided to make the leap of faith and Launch SparroFit! BEST decision ive made! I have the freedom to run my business as i see fit and service my clients beyond what i was able to working for a Gym. Being able to change over 100s of peopls lives and on my way to 1000, its been an amazing journey!
